Home/Owner outreach calculator
How many emails to reach an owner who will talk?
Direct answer
Across 288,294 acquisition and exit emails to business owners in 12 sectors, it took about 840 emails for each owner who agreed to a conversation, from about 200 in health tech to about 8,000 in home services. Pick a sector and the number of owner conversations you need, and the calculator turns our measured rates into an outreach plan. The rates come from owner response rates by sector, measured by DealSource Systems between 19 June and 11 October 2026.
Based on all twelve sectors: 343 owners who said yes out of 288,294 emails.
Emails per owner conversation, by sector
The same numbers without the calculator. "Do not contact" is the share of owners who replied and asked never to be emailed again; above 30% usually means buyers have been writing to that sector for years.

| Industrial manufacturing and distribution | 370 | 2.7 | 5% |

How the estimate works, and where it breaks
The calculator divides the conversations you need by each sector's measured rate: the share of emails that produced an owner who said they were interested or asked for a call. Requests for more information are not counted, so the estimate is deliberately conservative. Replies and do-not-contact figures scale the same way.
Three limits matter. Each sector's figure comes from one or two buyers' campaigns, with their own lists and messages, so a strong list or a weak one moves the number. Industrial manufacturing and distribution, home services and medical practices rest on fewer than 60 owner replies, so treat those rows as a direction rather than a forecast. And almost every email went to US owners. The full method is on the data page; our deal origination benchmarks cover how fast the first conversations arrive.
